Guess what? We’ve made it to the point where your baby is as long as a footlong sub –I’ve been dying to use that one.

Oh and speaking of subs, don’t be surprised if you try to eat one and someone pops out from behind a plant and tells you it’s dangerous. Unfortunately, at any given time, there are often a few listeria incidents in the headlines, which makes people really twitchy because it’s some pretty nasty stuff that pregnant women are very susceptible to. Here’s the situation on cold cuts, along with soft serve ice cream, soft cheese, and paté so you’re armed with the facts when people try to kick over a table in the lunchroom so you don’t eat brie.

While you’re at it, arm yourself with some zingers from the Comeback Series thanks to some help from other readers, so you’ll know what to say when people ask, “Should you be eating that?”, “Feeling fat yet?”, and “You’re just hormonal.”

My favorite for “Was that an accident?” is still, “Yes, I tripped and fell on a dick.”

24 Weeks Pregnant Cheat Sheet:

  • Your baby is about a foot long (or 30 cm) and weighs about a pound (or 450 g). Some sites will say your baby is 8 inches long but that's from head to bum (CRL or Crown-rump length) and I think legs should count.
  • Your baby is still translucent but their nostrils and vestibular system have developed.
  • You might be experiencing sore gums, leg cramps, back pain and itchy palms.
  • You have around 112 days before you give birth.

How many months is 24 weeks pregnant?

Twenty-four weeks is six months pregnant.

This week's to do:

Make a will. I know, I'm getting heavy here, but a will is important. Once you have a child, things like guardianship, asset distribution, etc. are things you have to have a hard think about and are things you should have in (legal) writing. A family lawyer is a place to start or sites like Legal Zoom (or epilogue in Canada) are great options.

Baby proofing. Infants don't need baby proofing but parents need time and energy to baby-proof which might be scarce after this kiddo arrives. Here's a complete baby proofing list (you won't need all of it) to get you thinking about where you want to make adjustments.

How are you feeling this week? Let me know here.
