The Honest Veer Cruiser Wagon Review (After 4 Years and 6 Kids)

By Emily Ramirez

The short answer: The Veer Cruiser is the most versatile stroller wagon on the market — it works from infancy through age 5, handles real terrain, and folds small enough for a Subaru trunk. It's expensive at $699–$799 before accessories, but for families with two young kids, it earns it. Here's everything you need to know before buying.

Who Is the Veer Cruiser For?

Before diving in: this wagon is a great fit for some families and overkill for others. Here's a quick gut check.

Buy it if you:

  • Have two kids under 5, or a newborn and a toddler
  • Are active and want something that handles more than a sidewalk
  • Want one product that works from birth through preschool
  • Are willing to invest in gear with strong resale value

Skip it if you:

  • Have one child who is already 3 or older
  • Live in an apartment with no car and primarily use public transit
  • Mostly visit theme parks (the Veer is banned at Disney — more on that below)
  • Are at the tail end of the stroller years and won't use it long enough to justify the cost

What Is the Veer Cruiser Wagon?

The Veer Cruiser is what you get when a premium stroller and a classic wagon have a very practical baby. It's a hybrid you can push like a stroller or pull like a wagon, built on a lightweight aluminum frame with rugged all-terrain tires. Veer launched it in 2018, and it's since grown into a full lineup of models with a devoted following among parents of multiple kids.

I used ours for over four years. It's hauled two kids, a farmer's market grocery run, beach gear, and one very reluctant goldfish. It's still going strong and it's been used by six kids across two households.

Key Features

Push or pull. Unlike a traditional wagon, the Veer has an adjustable-height push handle so you can use it stroller-style in crowds, then switch to pull mode on trails or hills. It works for adults of any height, so no awkward hunching. One thing to know: with a heavy load, it often takes two hands to steer. This isn't a one-hand-on-coffee situation.

Infant-ready from day one. With the infant car seat adapter (sold separately), you can use it from birth. Compatible brands include Graco, UPPAbaby, Nuna, Chicco, Cybex, Britax, Clek, Maxi-Cosi, and Peg Perego. There's also a JPMA-certified Nap System that converts the Cruiser into a bassinet.

All-terrain tires. The airless knobby tires handle grass, gravel, sand, and packed dirt without issue. They're not a jogging stroller replacement on technical trails, but for everyday adventures they're capable. On hills, pull rather than push — the weight distributes better and you'll have more control.

Tough and easy to clean. The frame is aircraft-grade aluminum and the fabric is fade- and stain-resistant. A hose-down and you're done. (Rinse thoroughly after the beach — salt and sand are the only things that need extra attention.)

Folds flat and stands alone. Lift the two handles on the back of each seat and the sidewalls collapse in seconds. It fits in the back of my Subaru Forester with all four wheels on. At 37" L × 20" W when folded, it's only about an inch longer than the UPPAbaby Vista V2 — but actually narrower — and stores upright, unlike a traditional metal wagon.

What's Included in the Box

The base wagon comes with two adult cup holders (on the handle) and one snack and drink tray (across the middle for kids). Everything else is sold separately — and the accessory list is long. Budget accordingly.

The Real Cost of a Veer Cruiser

This is where parents sometimes get surprised. The wagon is $699–$799. But to actually use it the way the marketing photos suggest, you'll likely add:

  • Canopy (one or two): $60–$80 each — essential for sun protection
  • Comfort seat upgrade: ~$80 — adds padding, better recline, and a 5-point harness (the standard seat has a 3-point)
  • Foldable storage basket: ~$70 — great for beach days and errands
  • Infant car seat adapter (if you need it): ~$50

A fully-equipped Veer for an infant-and-toddler setup can realistically land at $950–$1,050 all-in. That's worth knowing before you fall in love with the base price.

Ways to save:

  • Check Facebook Marketplace and GoodBuy Gear for used models — used Cruisers typically sell for around 45–55% off retail, which puts a gently used base model in the $315–$385 range
  • The Veer is often included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale every July
  • If you have a baby registry at Babylist, Pottery Barn Kids, or Amazon, you'll get a 15% completion discount on anything left on your list (You can find out more about completion discounts on my registry post)

Using the Veer with an Infant and a Toddler

This is the setup most buyers are actually shopping for, and it's worth walking through in detail.

The most common configuration: infant car seat clicks into the front seat position using the adapter, toddler sits in the back seat with the standard 3-point harness (or the comfort seat upgrade, which adds a 5-point harness and more padding — worth it for longer outings). Both kids face forward.

A few real-world tips from doing this for two years:

  • Load the heavier child toward the back when pulling — it distributes weight better and makes steering easier
  • The snack tray clips in between the seats and is great for keeping a toddler occupied while you walk
  • The toddler can climb in and out independently once they're around 2.5, which you will appreciate more than you expect

Which Veer Model Is Right for You?

Veer makes four models. For most families, the choice is really just between the first two:

All-Terrain Cruiser — The original, with larger wheels toward the back. Better for hills and rough terrain. Two seats.

Cruiser City — Same price, same features, but with the wheel configuration flipped for more nimble steering on sidewalks and in crowds. Two seats. A good pick for urban families who spend most of their time on pavement.

All-Terrain XL and Cruiser City XL — Four-seat versions of each, priced higher. Worth considering for families with three or four young children, or grandparents doing regular childcare pickup.

How It Compares to Other Stroller Wagons

Keenz — Similar price but shorter and wider, with a different handle and fold. No infant car seat compatibility. Better for urban use with older kids.

Evenflo Pivot Xplore — Less expensive, more stroller-like feel, with a handy drop-down entry for toddlers. Not compatible with infant seats, and less rugged overall.

Jeep Deluxe Wrangler — Cost-effective if your kids are already preschool-age and resale value isn't a priority.

BOB Gear Renegade — Slightly less expensive, but different fold, no add-on storage, and no infant seat option.

The biggest practical difference across all of them is the handle. The Veer's adjustable push/pull handle is what makes it function as a genuine stroller replacement rather than just a wagon with ambitions. It's also the most wagon-feeling of the group — sturdier, more rugged — which gives it more longevity.

Practical Questions Answered

Can I fly with it? Yes. Remove the snack tray and canopies, collapse it down, and you can stroller-check it at the gate (policies vary by airline, so confirm ahead of time). Veer sells a travel bag as an accessory that's worth adding if you fly regularly.

Can I use it at Disney World? No. Wagons and stroller wagons of any size or mode are prohibited at Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks and water parks — a policy that's been in place since 2019 and is actively enforced. Plan on a standard stroller for Disney trips.

Is it easy to assemble? Yes. It clicks together like a stroller — no tools needed — in about 10 minutes out of the box.

Is it easy to clean? Yes. Hose it down with cold water. The fabric is fade- and stain-resistant. Just don't let sand and salt sit after a beach day.

Honest Pros and Cons

What we love:

  • Works from newborn through age 5+
  • Genuinely handles mixed terrain
  • Folds quickly and stores upright — fits in a Subaru Forester with wheels on
  • Easy to clean
  • Strong resale value (typically 45–55% off retail secondhand)
  • Extensive accessory system to customize to your needs
  • Built to last — ours has been used by six kids across two households over four years

What to know going in:

  • The base price ($699–$799) is just the starting point — a fully-equipped setup runs $950–$1,050
  • Often takes two hands to steer with a heavy load
  • Cup holders on the handle don't grip drinks as securely as you'd hope
  • At 32.5 lbs with wheels, it's heavier than a typical stroller — worth considering if you load and unload from a car frequently

Is the Veer Cruiser Worth the Price?

For families with two young children who want one piece of gear that works from infancy through the preschool years — yes. The quality is real, the resale is strong, and the longevity is genuine.

If you have one child over 3, aren't planning on more, or mostly visit Disney parks, something more affordable will do the job just as well.
