CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3 Review

By Kayla Young
CuboAi sent me a monitor for testing purposes, but all the opinions are my own. Special thanks to Kier, Mike & Chase for helping us test this monitor in a real life setting. See our disclosure.

There are a lot of options out there when it comes to baby surveillance systems, but one I wish would have been around when my kids were little is the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3.

This cute little monitor doesn’t just let you know when your kid starts to cry – it provides extra features for sleep safety, helps you track your baby’s snooze cycles, breathing and growth patterns, captures sweet memories, and can be streamed from anywhere by anyone you’d like to share camera access with.

What Is the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor?

CuboAi was co-founded by a team of tech parents, AI experts, and a pediatrician who wanted to ease anxiety around baby sleep. Their solution? A monitor with cutting-edge AI features, state of the art camera technology, and a user-friendly setup that are unmatched by traditional monitors.

What’s in the Box?

Inside the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3 box, you’ll find the monitor, power adapter with USB-C cables, cord covers, mounting accessories, setup guide, and either a floor stand or wall mount (plus a mobile stand), depending on your model. A 1-year subscription to CuboAi Care Premium is also included.

Travel cases, the Sleep Sensor Pad, and Smart Temp tool are sold separately or bundled in the Sleep Safety packages.

More about Your Mounting Options

Before you make your purchase, you’ll want to decide which mounting option to go with.

  • Floor Stand: Ideal if you want to avoid drilling and prefer the flexibility to move the monitor between rooms.
  • Wall Mount: Perfect if your baby sleeps mainly in one spot. It includes a built-in level for easy installation, and additional mounts can be purchased for other rooms. The monitor easily detaches and reconnects to the app when moved between mounts.
  • Crib Mount (sold separately): Attaches the wall mount set to your baby’s crib without drilling. Note that stand extensions are needed to reach the optimal height for CuboAi’s features.

Both wall and crib mount kits include a mobile stand for travel or use in different rooms, though the mobile stand doesn’t provide the overhead view that floor and wall mounts offer.

Setup and Installation

Whether you're using the crib mount, wall mount, floor stand, or mobile stand, setup starts by downloading the CuboAi app (iOS/Android), creating an account, and connecting to Wi-Fi. Once connected, you’ll have access to live video, temperature and humidity tracking, sleep analytics, safety alerts, and more.

Most parents find setup straightforward, but 24/7 customer support and online FAQs are there if you need help.

Family Sharing and Privacy Options

One feature that sets CuboAi apart from other monitors is the ability to add up to 8 authorized users to your account. This is ideal if you’ve got babysitters, grandparents or other caregivers who are helping to keep an eye on your baby.

Some parents noted that they didn’t love the “big brother” feel of giving video/audio access to their homes, but appreciated that there was a sleep option for the camera when it was not in use.

Features like “Who’s Online” and “Connection History” let you monitor who’s viewing your feed and when, and you can easily set permissions, mute notifications, limit access times, or remove users as needed.

Video and Audio Quality

Parents using the CuboAi Smart Monitor were impressed by the amazing picture quality, both in the dark and in daylight, thanks to the camera’s color HD video with 135° wide-angle coverage.

At night, the infrared night vision comes on automatically and gives super clear black and white visuals with enough contrast to see baby’s face, movement, and even breathing motion. Brightness can be controlled on the app as well.

In terms of the audio, users mentioned that the camera picked up everything in terms of sound – even sounds from another room (which might be a con if you don’t want to get caught performing naptime karaoke). Sound sensitivity can be customized through the app. Users of the device liked the playlist and white noise options, as well as two-way talk feature through the app that gave them the ability to reassure their infant or scare the shit out of another adult in the room.

Safety and AI Features

Nothing will send you into heart attack mode quicker than a close call when your baby’s sleeping – whether they’ve gotten themselves tangled up in their sleep sack or managed to cover their face somehow, it’s a terrifying experience. The CuboAi app sends real-time alerts to keep you informed about what’s happening in your baby’s sleep space, including:

  • Covered face, rollover, and cry detection
  • Temperature and humidity monitoring
  • Danger Zone alerts, which notify you if your baby (or a rogue visitor like a sibling or pet) enters or exits a designated area in the camera’s view

Parents appreciated having the ability to customize the type and amount of notifications the app was sending, so they had just enough to curb their anxiety and avoid the urge to check in on their kid every 17 seconds, but not so much that they were feeling tethered to their phone.

Sleep Analytics and Highlight Reels

CuboAi tracks sleep duration, movement, and wake-up times, helping you get a clearer picture of your baby’s sleep patterns. Parents loved the highlight videos that the device captures automatically, and liked having the ability to save videos and photos directly from the app to their camera roll.

Everyday Use and Reliability

The CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3 is a monitor you can rely on, thanks to its strong Wi-Fi connectivity and responsive, easy-to-use app experience. Most parents found the live feed quick to load with minimal lag. The monitor itself doesn’t have a built-in battery backup (in the case of power outages), but you could use an external power bank if you needed to.

Comparison to Other Smart Monitors

While the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3 isn’t the only smart monitor on the market, it brings together the best features found across its competitors in one cute little bird-shaped bundle.

Cubo’s Ai feature goes beyond basic sleep tracking and growth measurements to help you analyze and understand your baby’s sleep and the Danger Zone alerts and auto phone capture are functions that you won’t find with other monitors.

One capability of other brands that CuboAi is missing is monitoring vitals like oxygen levels and heart rate, but to get this, you’ve gotta commit to sticking your baby in a sock, swaddle, or breathing band.

Final Verdict on the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3

If I could travel back in time to when my kids were babies, this is the monitor I’d choose. I spent way too many nights awkwardly adjusting the camera angle to get a clear view of my fuzzy little crib blobs, and the CuboAi would have been a total game-changer.

Its safety alerts would have eased countless anxious moments while my kids were sleeping, letting me rest easier instead of constantly sneaking in for a peek to make sure they were okay. The sleep tracking and growth insights would have made doctor visits so much easier in my sleep-deprived new parent state, and the family sharing feature would’ve been super handy on those rare occasions when we managed to wrangle a babysitter for a few hours.

I like that the subscription service is free for the first year, so you can try out all the features and see what you find especially useful. Sometimes the bells and whistles are nice at first, but some aren’t as necessary when your kid gets a bit older.

All in all, I think the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3 is a great investment, and I’d probably go with the floor stand since I don’t trust myself with power tools.

As our tester Mike said, "Thank you so much for this monitor. It has been a lifesaver for us, as Chase has specific medical needs that we need to be on top of, and being able to leave the room occasionally while still being able to see and hear him has been so incredibly helpful. We would recommend this monitor for anyone who needs to keep a close eye on their little. I'm excited to see how it will shift as he gets older."
